Product Modernisation
Bringing legacy products into the modern era. We update hardware and firmware to improve performance, add connectivity, and ensure future compatibility.
We help you navigate the end-of-life of components, porting legacy software to modern MCUs, and adding IoT capabilities to existing product lines without a complete redesign.
What this includes
- Reverse engineering of legacy PCBs and schematics
- Obsolete component replacement and redesign
- Legacy firmware review, documentation and porting
- Adding Bluetooth, cellular and OTA updates to existing products
Reverse engineering legacy electronics
Many products outlive their documentation. Where you own a product but the design files, schematics or source code have been lost, we reverse engineer the electronics: tracing schematics from the existing boards, identifying obsolete and unmarked components, and documenting how the firmware behaves. That gives you a documented baseline to maintain, re-manufacture or redesign from. We only take on reverse engineering where you own the product or hold the rights to it.
Dealing with obsolete components
A single end-of-life part can stop a production line. We find drop-in or near drop-in replacements where they exist, and where they do not, redesign the affected section of the board with current, multi-sourced parts, keeping the rest of the product and its certification as intact as possible.
Porting firmware and adding connectivity
Older products often run on microcontrollers that are expensive, hard to buy or no longer supported. We port legacy firmware to modern platforms, and use the opportunity to add what customers now expect, such as Bluetooth, cellular connectivity and secure over-the-air updates, without starting the product again from scratch.
